So many people I know are looking forward to seeing the back of 2017.  Are you one of them?

As the New Year encroaches, I’ve certainly been reflecting on the year that was and contemplating what changes and improvements I’d like to make to my life in 2018.

After a conversation with my dear friend Brendan Hancock, I’m excited about the steps I’m planning to take in order to initiate new positive experiences in my life.

I not talking about creating New Year’s Resolutions, which I personally feel are restrictive as they tend to focus on changing an undesired trait or behaviour, to accomplish a personal goal or improve your life.  I gave up that year’s end tradition a long time ago.  Instead, my intention is to embrace and incorporate at least one new experience into my life per month throughout 2018.

Thanks to Brendan, I’ve begun asking myself the following types questions in preparation for the stroke of midnight 31 December, 2017:

  • What is something you have never done before and have always wanted to do?
  • Is there somewhere you’ve never been before that you’d like to visit?
  • What cuisine or dish have you never eaten before that you’d like to try?
  • Is there something you’d like to learn but haven’t?
  • What’s an activity you love that you’d like to do more of or haven’t enjoyed in years?

Inspired, I’ve already begun filling my 2018 calendar.  For example, in January I’m scheduled to commence writing my first book.  March, I’m travelling to Israel for Gregg Braden’s Holy Land Tour.  It’s the first time I’ve been to that part of the world and I will have the opportunity to view the Dead Sea Scrolls and visit the Qumran Caves where they were discovered.

Other new experiences on my list include attending a pottery class, seeing a play in the quaint little 151 seat theatre around the corner from my home, visiting my local planetarium, sleeping under the stars and learning how to change a tap washer.

Over the coming months I’ll keep you posted on the new experiences I’ve encountered.  Let’s see if I can sustain this process throughout the year.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear your answers to the above questions.  Feel free to drop me a line or post them on the facebook.  Maybe we could even share an experience together.

Wishing you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

With love,

Kylie xo
