Achieving the physical and emotional state called heart-brain coherence is pivotal for influencing the subconscious mind. This state is reached by shifting your awareness from your head to your heart by taking slow and deep heart-centred breaths while consciously evoking an emotionally elevated state.
Closing your eyes and moving your awareness from your external environment to within quietens your mind, causing brain activity to slow down. In this state, the mind is less analytical and more receptive to influence. Slowing your breath will calm your nervous system, while heart-focused breathing facilitates a sense of well-being. Creating this emotional baseline makes it easier to evoke elevated feelings at will, and it’s what you feel and intend in this optimal state that influences your subconscious programming.
The HeartMath Institute is a non-profit research and education organisation that has created user-friendly self-regulation tools and techniques for achieving heart-brain coherence. Their Inner Balance app, trains you to reach this physical and emotional state of being.
