In Chapter 1 of My Story I state that passion does not equal life purpose. I had to learn this the hard way. I spent six years chasing one of my passions and it cost me dearly – both emotionally and financially. I now feel compelled to share the key differences with others so they don’t make the same mistakes I did.
Both passion and purpose have a place in our life. But for a rookie it can be easy to confuse a passion for your purpose. Passions are tangible things you thoroughly enjoy doing because they give you immense pleasure, but they are mostly self-serving.
Purpose, on the other hand, involves being of service to others by providing solutions to their problems and adding real value to their life. And it’s this act of serving that gives your life meaning and fulfilment.
Your life’s purpose is a unique combination of innate skills, qualities and life experiences that allow you to serve others in a way that only you can. The even better news? The evidence to identify your life’s calling is woven all throughout your life, you just need to know where to look and the right questions to ask yourself.
In the workbook Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life: A guide to uncovering your life’s calling to create a joyous, fulfilling and meaningful life I discuss the key differences between passion and purpose, and explain the role both play in your life. Then I walk your through the process for finding your unique purpose, step-by-step.
Find Your Purpose, Change Your Life is available both as an eBook and paperback. The audio version is also now in production. If you would like to know as soon as it’s published, e-mail me with the subject line: ‘Workbook #1 Audiobook’.
