Narelle Duncan I remember clearly the strange set of circumstances that brought me into connection with Narelle Duncan in 2007; a coincidence that has had a significant impact on my life.
At the time I happened to be staying on the beautiful, tropical Gold Coast area of Queensland, house-sitting for a friend. It was a hot day and I had a desire for an ice cream. That in itself is unusual for me, as at the time it was not one of my usual cravings. I stumbled across an ice-cream store and succumbed to my desire. As I waited to be served, I saw a flyer for a Soul Purpose Astrology Reading sitting on the bench.
It seemed so out of place but being ever the avid spiritual seeker I was drawn to it instantly.
Over the next few days I kept looking at the flyer. I’d never heard of a Soul Purpose Astrology Reading before. I was intrigued, but I was also reluctant to have a reading without a recommendation from my usual coterie of trusted ‘spiritual junkie’ friends. But I felt compelled. Later that week I called Narelle to find out more about the nature and method of her readings.
I learnt that Narelle specialised in modern astrology, which she used as a psychological tool for the purpose of counselling clients on aspects of their life that weren’t working for them. What I found particularly fascinating was that she used an individual’s birth chart to identify their ‘calling’ in life.
Our conversation further aroused my curiosity. I made a booking on the spot. Two days later, I fronted up on her office doorstep, feeling nervous but very excited about what my reading might reveal.
The session went for almost two hours and was very in-depth. I was astonished with the accuracy and clarity of the reading. How could anyone, particularly someone who had just met me, know me so well and describe my struggles in life so intimately, simply by examining a few symbols (known as glyphs) on a page?
Like many people, I’d had astrology readings in the past and these readings had given me a general insight into my personality traits. However, my experience with Narelle was totally different. Her reading was subtle and full of nuance that helped me gain useful and important insights into myself. For example she was able to pinpoint what I valued and believed to be true about life, along with my strengths and weaknesses. She gave me advice and practical examples of how I could make the most of my gifts and she also helped me to recognise my weaknesses and accept them.
This encounter led me to take on a course of study in astrology (firstly with Narelle’s teacher, and then Narelle herself) where I learnt that our birth chart is, primarily, a blueprint of our psyche.

My Soul Purpose Astrology Reading with Narelle Duncan, not only allowed me to understand the diversity of my personality and character, but was also helpful in identifying the different parts of myself – such as my unique qualities and abilities; what I judged to be important in life; the way in which I viewed and experienced life; and my functional and self-sabotaging behavioural tendencies – and how these worked with or against one another.
To my astonishment, she was able to define and describe the aspects of myself and particular circumstances which empowered, inspired and fulfilled me, along with those that created internal emotional tension and mental confusion, when they clashed with one another. She provided me with invaluable advice on how I could integrate these aspects of myself to create more inner harmony, helping to make my life journey smoother.
Another surprise was that she was able to describe my relationship with my parents and the influence my family had on my development and how this played out in my life. Using this information she was able to pinpoint the belief systems I had formed that were driving the decisions I made and the actions I took in life.
What was most important to me, was that Narelle was able to give me clues as to nature of my life purpose. She helped me identify, recognise and begin to own the talents and abilities I’d been blessed with. She also revealed the lessons I was was here to learn this lifetime and what others could learn from me.
According to Narelle, my life purpose, should I choose to accept it, was to help others heal their insecurities and build their self-esteem. My role was to assist them to develop confidence in their abilities and to make decisions which honoured their needs, rather than being influenced or told what to do by someone else.
I was to achieve this mission through my ability to disseminate information on the innovative techniques and groundbreaking resources I’d used to heal my own insecurities, build my self-confidence and self-reliance at a soul level in a way that people could easily understand and apply to their own lives. She predicted that my life’s calling had the potential to make an impact globally.
This resonated with me at my very core!
Despite all the wisdom and clear guidance I’d gained from Narelle on where to direct my focus, unfortunately at that point in time I didn’t have the self belief or knowledge on how to begin living my life calling.
It wasn’t until many years later, after I done most of the inner work (which I discuss here on this website) that I was ready to embrace my soul purpose and share my knowledge and experience with others. By that stage I’d used a number of different processes for identify my life calling, all of which revealed the same theme and concurred with Narelle’s summation.
I realise now that there is a big difference between knowing something theoretically and understanding it in every cell of your body. It had been approximately six years since Narelle had accurately identified the theme of my life’s calling, however, it wasn’t until I had found the tools to help me look deep within myself, which allowed me to identify these themes woven throughout the fabric of my life, that I had the confidence to pursue this path.
It is for this reason that I recommend having a Soul Purpose Astrology Reading in tandem with doing the inner work. Both act as a crosscheck for one another.
